April 7, 2021, on the 4th week of Great Lent, St. John Climacus, on the feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, and on the day of the repose of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Grace Gideon, Bishop Makarovsky, the abbot of the Tithes Monastery of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, performed a festive divine service, concelebrated by the priest of the monastery.
After the reading of the Holy Gospel, a fervent prayer was raised for peace in Ukraine and for the unity of the Orthodox Church.
After the service, the words of the sermon were pronounced and the parishioners of the church congratulated on the holiday.
The name of the holiday - the Annunciation - conveys the main meaning of the event associated with it: the proclamation of the good news to the Virgin Mary about the conception and the birth of her God-Infant Christ. This holiday belongs to the twelve non-passing holidays and is celebrated every year on the same April day. Archangel Gabriel brought the Virgin Mary the greatest news - the Son of God becomes the Son of man. Isaiah's prophecy is being fulfilled, the Mother of God answers with consent to the angel's message: "Let it be done to me according to your word." Without this free consent, God could not have become human. He could not be incarnated, since God does not act by force, does not force us to anything. Man has been given complete freedom to respond to God with consent and love. Church Tradition says that at the moment when the Archangel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary, she was reading the book of the prophet Isaiah, just those words about the birth of the Messiah. “I am ready to become the last servant of the one who will be worthy to give birth to the Messiah,” she thought.
