FESTIVAL OF THE BIRTH OF CHRIST IN THE TEN MONASTERY

07 January 2022

On the night of January 7, 2022, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphrius of Kiev and All Ukraine, a solemn Divine Service was served in the Tithes Monastery of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in honor of the feast of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The divine service was led by the abbot of the monastery, His Grace Gideon Bishop Makarovsky, he was concelebrated by the monastery brethren in the priesthood.

After the reading of the Holy Gospel, a fervent prayer was raised for peace in Ukraine and for the unity of the Orthodox Church.

During the Liturgy, a resident of the monastery read the Nativity Epistle of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kiev and All Ukraine.

At the end of the service, Vladyka Gideon addressed the flock with the words of a sermon, congratulating the parishioners of the church on the holiday: “Christ came to save our souls, by his example and teaching he showed how to inherit eternal life. And on the eve of the feast of the Nativity of Christ, we, first of all, rejoice and glorify the born God-child Christ for the hope that opens before us for eternal life, for such God's mercy to us. That is why for centuries and generations every year, as for the first time, mankind celebrates the Nativity of our Savior. God does not give a person a cross more than he himself can bear, and this cross is given to us from birth. On the birthday of Christ, God handed over the cross to his Son - still little, God in the flesh, born through the Blessed Virgin Mary. Some time after the birth of our Savior, the wise men found him and brought him as a gift gold, incense and myrrh - precious incense. The Magi came from the East - they were people from another country and another religion, but they were the first to worship the born God-Infant Christ, and set an example to the rest of humanity that we must all bring God: that which is dearer to the Lord than gold is our love for him and ours. works, and what is more pleasant to him than incense and incense - our repentance, humility before His will and grateful prayers for everything that He sends for the salvation of our soul. Christ is Born! We glorify Him! "
