On the day of the uncovering of the relics of St. John, the Wonderworker Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco, on October 12, 2022, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, a solemn divine service was celebrated in the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (near the Pirogovsky cemetery).
On the eve of October 11, the All-Night Vigil with the reading of the akathist to the saint was led by the cleric of the Tithes Monastery, Archimandrite Clement.
On the very day of the feast, the Divine Litrgy was led by Archbishop Sylvester of Belogorodsk, rector of KDAiS. The archpastor was co-served by Archpriest Viktor Ivashchuk, the clerk of the Kyiv diocese for the city of Kyiv, archpriest Pavel Kirillov, dean of the Goloseevsky deanery, archpriest Nikita Chekman, rector of the temple, and also guests in holy orders.
During the Liturgy, prayers were raised for peace on Ukrainian soil; about getting rid of the enemy; that the Lord look upon our people and save the despairing and the homeless; about the blessing of God to people of good will who help those in need.
Also, funeral requests were made for the dead Ukrainian servicemen and civilians as a result of the war.
At the end of the Liturgy, the rite of glorification was performed at the icon of St. John. After that, Bishop Sylvester addressed the audience with archpastoral instructions, congratulated the rector, the clergy and the faithful on the day of memory of St. John of Shanghai. In turn, the father rector presented Archbishop Sylvester with a lithograph depicting the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
