{{ 1}} The Blessed Virgin Mary was born at a time when people reached such limits of moral decline, at which their rebellion seemed already impossible. The Son of God wanted to take human nature for the salvation of people, and the Most Pure Virgin Mary, the only one worthy to contain in Himself and embody the Source of purity and holiness, He chooses to be His Mother. The Blessed Virgin Mary was born in the small Galilee city of Nazareth. Her parents were the righteous Joachim from the family of the prophet and king David and Anna from the family of the high priest Aaron. The spouses were childless, since Saint Anna was barren. Having reached their advanced years, Joachim and Anna did not lose hope in the mercy of God, firmly believing that everything is possible for God, and He can resolve Anna's infertility even in her old age. Saints Joachim and Anna made a vow to consecrate to God for service in the temple a child that the Lord will send them.According to legend, Joachim was in the wilderness, and an angel appeared in the garden to Anna with the joyful news that they would have a daughter. Both immediately went to Jerosalim and met at the Golden Gate. In due time they had a daughter, who was named Maria. Joachim and Anna happily thanked the Lord and promised to devote their child to serving God. The date of the Nativity of the Mother of God is exactly 9 months from the date of the Orthodox feast of the Conception of St. Anna (December 22). The Nativity of the Mother of God marked the coming of the time when the great and comforting promises of God about the salvation of the human race from the slavery of the devil began to be fulfilled. This event brought the blessed Kingdom of God closer on earth, the kingdom of truth, piety, virtue and immortal life. The Mother of the First-born of all creation is also to all of us, by grace, the Mother and the merciful Intercessor, to Whom we constantly resort with filial boldness.
