07 February 2023

On February 8, 2023, a court hearing will be held at which a decision will be made on the demolition of the Vladimir-Olginsky Church of the Tithes Monastery of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The temple was erected by the inhabitants of the city of Kyiv with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir the Hero of Ukraine in 2006 on the site of the destroyed first cathedral church of Kievan Rus, the Tithes Cathedral.

The children of the Soviet regime, once again raised their hands to the main shrine of the Ukrainian people, forgetting that the Church of the Tithes is a barometer of the spiritual and material life of the state. Throughout our history, starting from 996, the Temple of the Tithes has been restored and destroyed many times. It is deeply symbolic that each restoration of the temple is historically connected with the rise of the Power, and each destruction with its destruction. The last time it happened with the advent of Soviet power. Power is the establishment of God: “Let every soul be subject to the highest authorities; for there is no authority except from God, but the existing authorities are established by God” (Rom. 13:1). Plato argued about this in pre-Christian antiquity, understanding power as a hierarchy ascending to God. Soviet power in the USSR was not true power, but was a denial of the very essence, the very principle, the very idea of power and the assertion of autocracy. The main struggle of the Bolshevik state is directed against Christianity, as the most perfect form of religion, and especially against Orthodoxy, as the most perfect form of Christianity. Bolshevism, as the highest manifestation of anti-Christianity, is the idea of Antichrist. And the idea of the Antichrist was to destroy the Orthodox faith in the souls of people, and this is directly related to the massive closure and destruction of the churches of God. This terrible fate, of course, also affected the Church of the Tithes, the flagship of Orthodoxy. On October 2, 1929, the Church of the Tithes was closed. Concerned about the search for bricks for the construction of schools, industrial and residential buildings. On March 14, 1936, the Secretary of the Kyiv City Party Committee Sapov Ivan Andreevich and the Secretary of the Kyiv City Committee and Chairman of the City Council Petrushansky Rafail Romanovich appealed to the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (b)U with a request to sanction the demolition of the Vladimir Cathedral and the Church of the Tithes. “According to the general plan for the reconstruction of the city of Kyiv, approved by the Central Committee of the CP(b)U,” they wrote, “Vladimir Cathedral and the Church of the Tithes are scheduled for demolition, as objects that do not have great historical value, so the city committee of the CP(b)U and the City Council ask permission to proceed with the dismantling of these church buildings. On March 26, 1936, at a meeting of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine (b)U, which was attended by members of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine (b)U, it was decided to allow the Kyiv City Administration to dismantle the Church of the Tithes.

After the atheists destroyed the temple, the punishing hand of God's truth was not long in coming, the further fate of the persecutors of the church was sealed.

We do not wish harm to the people who raised their hands to the main shrine of Ukraine. God is their judge, and as history shows, the Lord executes his judgment immediately.

The Brotherhood of the Tithes Monastery calls on the authorities of Ukraine to stop the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, not to incite inter-confessional hatred, at a time when Ukraine is in the stage of hostilities. We ask all the faithful children of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to intensify their prayer for our monastery.
