Your Eminences and Eminences!

Dear fathers, brothers and sisters!

With great sorrow I received the news of the death of our dear and beloved brother, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion.

From the fullness of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and on my own behalf, I express my heartfelt condolences to the hierarchs, clergy, monastics and all the faithful children of the Russian Church Abroad in connection with the loss that has befallen.

Vladyka Hilarion, whom I knew personally, was an outstanding hierarch. He devoted himself entirely to the service of the Church. The blessedly reposed Vladyka performed his high archpastoral ministry,

combining the wise and firm leadership of the flock entrusted to him with personal modesty and humility. During his spiritual journey, Metropolitan Hilarion acquired the gifts of the Holy Spirit, becoming an example for the faithful “in word, in life, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1 Tim. 4:12), as evidenced by the universal love for him .

During this Paschal period, we lift up prayers to our Risen Lord Jesus Christ for the newly reposed saint of God, so that the Savior would receive His faithful servant in the heavenly abode, where there is neither sickness nor sighing, but eternal Paschal joy and endless life.

Eternal and blessed memory to our dear and beloved brother, Metropolitan Hilarion!
